As of 8/18/2002, WinSTIPS currently had 161,293 records. Check out the WinSTIPS fact sheet for the most current information. Your database may have more or less depending on your purchase.
At one time WinSTIPS had more than 185,000 records, but in 11/2001 we deleted most SAMS Photofact references and broke those out into a separate and up-to-date module.
In 08/2002 WinSTIPS was at 175,231 records and we deleted 13,938 records that were contributed by a single person more than a year ago and should not have been merged into the WinSTIPS database. These were all Viewsonic Computer Monitor tips and were not really tips at all.
If WinSTIPS' opening screen indicates that there are just 100,000 records in your database, then you only have the demo core of tips.
To update your database, start WinSTIPS and choose Tools | Update, then choose Tip Update to add more tips to your database. After you purchase WinSTIPS, you'll be able to do the Core Update, which will bring the complete WinSTIPS database to your desktop.
It is your responsibility to back up your tips database file (STIP_BE.MDB). Please protect your investment.
Even if you have a valid subscription, you will not be able to do a Core Update until you register WinSTIPS 2.0 and we post new files to the Web server.
After installing WinSTIPS 2.0, you may have more or less tips available depending on your purchase decisions. Some users purchase a WinSTIPS Annual Subscriptions and some do not.
If you purchase a WinSTIPS Annual Subscription, then your database will be complete and up-to-date throughout the year and all WinSTIPS data will be available to you. If you have never purchased an annual subscription, then your database only consists of the number of records that were available on your date of purchase. If you downloaded WinSTIPS from ServiceSoftware.com, then your database only contains 100,000 records (for demo purposes).
