There are two kinds of updates: Tip Update and Core Update
Tip Update
-- Very fast.
-- Less than 10 minutes even with a slow dial-up Internet connection
-- Get the latest records that have been added in the last two weeks or so
-- You'll receive new records only -- no edits or deletes
Run Tip Update at least every two weeks. If you wait longer, then you should Core Update so you don't miss anything
Here is how to Tip Update:
-- Start WinSTIPS
-- Connect to the Internet
-- Choose Tools and the Update from the main WinSTIPS menu
-- Click the Tip Update button
Core Update
-- Slower than Tip Update
-- May take 20 to 40 minutes with a slow Internet connection.
-- Replaces your WinSTIPS database with complete and up-to-date database
-- No need to do a Tip Update after a Core Update
-- You'll receive all tips, all edits, and all deletions
Here is how to Core Update:
-- Start WinSTIPS
-- Connect to the Internet
-- Choose Tools and the Update from the main WinSTIPS menu
-- Click the Core Update button

Note: Neither Tip Update nor Core Update upgrades / updates your WinSTIPS program files.
Note: If your Internet connection includes a firewall, then you should check the Passive File Transfer check box on the WinSTIPS Update form as shown below.
